Privacy

The short version: this website has no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. The only personal data Vatra keeps is your email address, and only if you subscribe to the devlog.

The website

vatrathegame.com is a static website. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, shows no ads and loads no third-party scripts or fonts.

Like every web host, ours (Cloudflare) has to process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and to block abuse. We do not use it to identify or follow visitors.

The devlog newsletter

If you subscribe, your email address is used for one thing: sending you the Vatra devlog, about one short story a week, in English. It is never sold, shared or used for advertising.

The list is kept by Buttondown, the email service that sends the devlog on our behalf. Buttondown stores your email address, when you subscribed and confirmed, and basic technical data from the sign-up (such as your IP address, used to stop spam sign-ups). It also records whether each email was delivered or bounced.

Open and click tracking are switched off: the emails contain no tracking pixels and their links are not rewritten, so we cannot see whether you opened an email or what you clicked.

Double opt-in

After you sign up, Buttondown sends you one email with a confirmation link. Nothing else is sent until you click it. If you never confirm, you never receive the devlog.

Unsubscribing and deletion

Every devlog email ends with an unsubscribe link. One click and you are off the list.

If you would rather have your address deleted completely, or want to know what is stored about you, reply to any devlog email and say so. We will delete it from Buttondown.

Who is responsible

Vatra is made by Radu Angelescu, who is responsible for this data. The legal basis for the newsletter is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unsubscribing.
